The Public Nutritionist Professional Competency Certificate is an official credential issued by the Education and Training Center of the Chinese Nutrition Society. The Public Nutritionist examination is held nationwide at specific times each year, typically in March, June, September, and late December. The exam is standardized and administered uniformly across the country.

Candidates for the Public Nutritionist exam cannot register individually; instead, registration must be completed through an officially accredited institution. Currently, the Public Nutritionist certification is offered at four levels: Level 4 (Intermediate), Level 3 (Advanced), Level 2 (Technician), and Level 1 (Senior Technician). However, only Level 4 (Intermediate) and Level 3 (Advanced) exams are available at this time.

To be eligible for the Level 4 (Intermediate) exam, candidates must have a qualification below a college diploma, complete the required standardized training hours, and have at least two years of relevant work experience. For the Level 3 (Advanced) exam, candidates must hold a college diploma or higher in a relevant field, complete the required training hours, and, if their degree is not related to nutrition, they must fulfill additional requirements.

For Level 2 (Technician), candidates must have passed the Level 3 exam, completed the necessary training hours, and have 2-3 years of relevant work experience.

The Public Nutritionist exam consists of two main parts: theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Both components are administered via a nationwide computer-based test. The theoretical knowledge section lasts 90 minutes, while the practical skills section is 60 minutes long. To pass, candidates must score at least 60 out of 100 in both sections, for a total testing time of 150 minutes.

The registration fee for the Public Nutritionist exam is typically around 500 RMB, with training costs ranging between 2,000 and 3,000 RMB. After paying the fees, candidates are registered by the institution and can then participate in the exam at the scheduled time.

The process for becoming a certified Public Nutritionist involves consulting with an accredited institution, submitting the necessary registration materials, completing the required training hours, preparing for the exam, receiving the exam notification, printing the exam admission ticket, and finally, taking the exam.

The examination process is rigorous, ensuring that only qualified individuals achieve certification. Those who complete the training and pass the exam are awarded the Public Nutritionist Professional Competency Certificate by the Education and Training Center of the Chinese Nutrition Society. This certificate is registered in the Chinese Nutrition Society's member system, serving as a recognized credential for employment, further education, career advancement, and other professional purposes across China. The certification is recognized nationwide and remains valid for life.
