To become a certified Health Manager, individuals cannot apply directly. The examination and certification process is organized and conducted by third-party agencies registered with local Human Resources and Social Security Occupational Appraisal Centers. These exams are held multiple times throughout the year, with registration generally opening two months before the official exam date. However, the exact timing can vary and is announced by each region according to its specific schedule.

Health Management certification is available at five levels: Level 1 (Senior Technician), Level 2 (Technician), Level 3 (Advanced), Level 4 (Intermediate), and Level 5 (Junior). Currently, exams are offered for the Level 3 (Advanced) and Level 4 (Intermediate) certifications.

For the Level 3/Advanced Health Manager certification, candidates must meet at least one of the following requirements:

Work experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in health management or a related profession.

Professional qualifications: After obtaining a Level 4/Intermediate certification in this or a related field, candidates must have at least four years of work experience in the same or related professions.

Title requirements: After obtaining a relevant junior title (professional technical personnel qualification), candidates must have at least one year of experience in health management or a related field.

Educational background: Candidates who have graduated from an advanced training class in a related field at a technical school, or those who are current students in their final year, may also apply.

Qualification and educational requirements: Candidates who have a Level 4/Intermediate certification in this or a related field and have graduated from a higher vocational school or above in a related field, or those who are final-year students, are eligible.

Higher education: Candidates who have graduated from a recognized higher vocational school or university in a related field, or those who are current students in their final year, are also eligible.

The registration process for the Health Manager certification involves consulting with an accredited agency, submitting the necessary documents, preparing for the exam, receiving exam notifications, printing the admission ticket, and finally, taking the exam.

The Health Manager exam consists of two parts: a theoretical knowledge test and a skills assessment. The theoretical test includes multiple-choice, multiple-answer, and true/false questions, while the skills assessment includes short answers, case analysis, and essay questions. Both sections are scored out of 100 points, with a passing grade set at 60 or above.

Most candidates opt for formal training before taking the Health Manager exam to better grasp the necessary knowledge and skills, thereby increasing their chances of passing. Training fees vary depending on the region and institution, typically ranging from 2,500 to 4,000 yuan. Candidates should choose a training institution that best fits their needs and circumstances.

Upon passing the exam, candidates receive a corresponding level of the Health Manager Occupational Skill Level Certificate, issued by an evaluation agency approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. This certificate is recognized nationwide, valid for life, and does not require annual renewal. It serves as an important credential for employment, promotion, and skills assessment by human resources departments and employers. The certificate’s authenticity can be verified through the Occupational Skills Appraisal website (http://zscx.osta.org.cn).
